INS Chakra inducted in to Indian navy:
                          Over the years, the Indian Ocean Region has assumed great strategic significance. This region is home to large population and some of the most dynamic and fast growing economies. Geo-strategically, India is the hub of this region. The disruption of sea-borne trade due to piracy, terrorism, or conflict can have serious repercussions on the economies and overall well-being of nations in the Indian Ocean Region. As peace and stability in the region are crucial to peace in the world at large, it is imperative that the Indian Navy maintains a strong, stabilising and credible naval presence in the region.
 With induction India in to elite group of 6 nations operating nuke submarines.The INS ChakraII (К-152 Nerpa) is a 8,140-tonne (8,010-long-ton) Project 971. Akula class submarine  type nuclear-powered attack submarine.  K-152 Nerpa was launched in October 2008 and entered service with the Russian Navy in late 2009. The submarine was leased to the Indian Navy in 2011 and was formally commissioned into service as the INS Chakra II.




Powered by 190 MWe reactor submerged speed of 30 knots operating depths over 500m.
